Soft Spun Braided Ropes

The rope is soft spun polyester and braided by hand to create the braided rope swinging hammocks that provide the comfort we all yearn for in comfortable Cloud Watcher hammocks. The reason soft-spun polyester rope is used instead of cotton rope is that cotton rope will rot in a short period of time. Your soft-spun polyester rope should last for 15 to 20 years when cared for properly.

Talking about care, like any outdoor product, dirt can accumulate on the surface of the rope and mildew can grow on the dirt. There are many ways to clean outdoor products. One of the best ways to clean our hammocks rope is to add one gallon of bleach to a gallon of water. This is for the white rope only. Dish soap is the third and final ingredient. Just a couple of drops added to this mixture is all that is needed. Stir the mixture well and pour it into a bottle with a pump-style sprayer. Spray this solution all over the rope. Pretty simple right.

Now let it do its work in the sun for about 20 minutes. Now is the time to rinse off the solution from the hammocks. No need for a pressure washer. Just your garden hose on high pressure will be just fine. Let the rope dry well and examine it for any remaining dirt or mildew. If any remains, repeat the process. This will take care of the rope in a fine fashion as long as it has not been sorely neglected for a long period of time.

Your Hammocks Spreader Bars

Furthermore, let’s discuss the next very important element of your Cloud Watcher Hammocks. The spreader bars keep the soft-spun polyester rope just where it needs to be to provide maximum comfort. The spreaders are made from Ash. Ash is a light color medium-grained hardwood. A great shock absorber which is why it is used in making baseball bats.

Typically, it has a straight grain and is used for making fine furniture. It is one of the most durable hardwoods. Each Ash spreader bar is cut to size, sanded, and drilled for the particular number of ropes to be woven through a specific size of our Cloud Watcher Hammocks. The next step is to dip each spreader bar in a high gloss polyurethane varnish. This provides protection and adds to the beauty of the finished product.

Eventually, the varnish will wear off, generally in about 3 to 5 years. This will not compromise the durability of the Ash spreader bar. You may wish to reapply the varnish and this is a relatively easy woodworking project. Sand the Ash spreader bar with fine grain sandpaper, remove the dust and brush on the high gloss polyurethane varnish of your choice.

To point out, You will need to have two posts firmly planted in the ground to hang your Cloud Watcher Hammocks. Even better, you may have two wonderful trees that are just the right size on which to hang your hammocks. No matter what sturdy anchor points you decided to use, your Cloud Watcher Hammock will provide endless hours of leisurely enjoyment for you and your loved ones. We know you will love it. Another key point, Spread the word.
